Aaron Ramsey pounced in stoppage time to earn Arsenal all three points on Premier League opening day as dogged Crystal Palace’s resistance was finally broken.
Following a turbulent week in which manager Tony Pulis left the club, Brede Hangleland headed the visitors into a 35th-minute lead when he met Jason Puncheon’s corner.
But Laurent Koscielny met a free-kick from Alexis Sanchez to equalise for Arsenal on the stroke of half-time.
With Palace down to 10 men after Puncheon picked up a second yellow card, Ramsey pounced when Julian Speroni couldn’t cling on to a point- blank Mathieu Debuchy effort.
