
Atleast,8 people have were killed and a major bridge destroyed after suspected members of the Boko Haram sect yesterday night July 28th launched an attack in Katarko town in Yobe State. Katarko is 22km South of Damaturu, the state capital and is said to be very near the dreaded Sambisa forest.
According to reports, the sect members arrived the village around 7.30pm in motor bike s and operated unhindered till 2.00am. The men had unsuccessful attacked a military base in the town before moving into a residential area.
"They stormed our village with some vehicles and many motorcycles,shooting and chanting Allahu Akbar (God is Great). The soldiers in Katarko had to flee after seeing the large number of the attackers.
After attacking the village and killing about eight persons and injuring some others, we later heard a thunderous explosion at the location of the bridge; we all fled into the bush. But in the morning, we later found out that the bridge had been destroyed with bombs”, said Mr. Lawan, are sident of the village said.

said to be an accomplice.
Speaking at the Police
Headquarters along Ahmadu
Bello Way, Ilorin, the
commissioner told newsmen
that the two suspects were
arrested with human head, leg and hand in Tabira village,
Okuta in Baruten Local
Government Area of the state.
Aisabor said the suspects,
Amos Kareem and Abubakar
Ladan, were arrested following
a tip-off, stressing that during
investigation they confessed to
the crime.
One of the suspects, Abubakar
Ladan, told Vanguard that
Amos Kareem promised to give
him a motorcycle if he could
find him human head, hand
and leg.
He said his desire to own a
motorcycle prompted him to go
to a burial ground and cut off
the human head, leg and hand
that were displayed.
Amos Kareem, when asked
what he was doing with human
parts, said some politicians
used to buy the parts from him.
The suspects, however, refused
to disclose the identity of
politicians who patronise
them.
The police also paraded a man
said to be an accomplice,
having accommodated the
suspects in Tabira village,
claiming that he never knew
that the suspects were involved in such atrocity.
A blast occurred around 3 this
afternoon at New
Road Motor in the Sabongari area of
Kano city,
according to police sources.
The
explosive was hidden in a table top fridge disguised
as luggage
